Here is an mwe for a markdown pipe tables that works fine with pdf output from pandoc but confused `beamer:

The _pandoc command is

pandoc --slide-level=2 -H beamer.tex -s -t beamer --pdf-engine xelatex -o mwe.pdf mwe.md

The error is:

Error producing PDF.
! Undefined control sequence.
<argument> @@magyar@captionfix

I was unable to determine if beamer supports pipe tables. If not what might be a close alternative: I have quite a few tables that would need to be managed / converted..

• Then use
  pandoc --template=default.beamer --slide-level=2 -H beamer.tex -s -t beamer --pdf-engine xelatex -o mwe.pdf mwe.md

But that had no effect: same error.
