Markdown Pipe Tables support in Beamer output mode of pandoc?

Here is an mwe for a markdown pipe tables that works fine with pdf output from pandoc but confused `beamer:

title: Tensorflow
fonttheme: structurebold
author: Me
fontsize: 12pt
output:
rmarkdown::html_document:
theme: lumen

## TensorFlow!

Distributed DataFlow Graph based Mathematical Computations
Google's Second Generation Deep and Machine Learning Platform

## Goals

Stated Goal | Met? | Comments
---|---|---
Provide a flexible interface for expressing machine learning algorithms | Yes |Rich capabilities and variety of use cases were explored in the paper
Provide an implementation of the interface to support such algorithms | Yes | Arguably most popular DL/ML library and platform

The _pandoc command is

pandoc --slide-level=2 -H beamer.tex -s -t beamer --pdf-engine xelatex -o mwe.pdf mwe.md

The error is:

Error producing PDF.
! Undefined control sequence.
<argument> @@magyar@captionfix

l.118 begindocument

I was unable to determine if beamer supports pipe tables. If not what might be a close alternative: I have quite a few tables that would need to be managed / converted..

Update I tried the following from an SOF answer https://stackoverflow.com/questions/30865756/markdown-pandoc-beamer-fails-to-insert-tables

  • Add to default.beamer

    usepackagelongtable,booktabs

  • Then use
    pandoc --template=default.beamer --slide-level=2 -H beamer.tex -s -t beamer --pdf-engine xelatex -o mwe.pdf mwe.md

But that had no effect: same error.
