Background: I did my master's thesis 18 years ago in LaTeX, but basically haven't touched it since.

I am trying to format a xelatex document to look like the following
sample: 1

So the short question is what would be the easiest way to do this?

Ideally it would be nice to use section, subsection, subsubsection etc., so that I can still generate a toc and use the section names in the header, etc. But at this point, since the .tex file is going to be computer generated, I'd be open to just viewing each of the lines as a paragraph and just styling them all individually to look like this.

I can go over what I've tried, basically I've spent a couple days trying to modify the commands section, subsection, etc using renewcommand like (where 1 is a .otf font that I've defined:

renewcommandsection@startsection section1z@%
 -3.5ex @plus -1ex @minus -.2ex%
 2.3ex @plus .2ex%
 1bfseriesparskip0em%

But I can't even seem to get the section to use the right font, be bold and italic when I need it to be, and adjust the margins around the title. So at this point I would love at least a big picture idea of how to tackle this problem (although if there's an easy solution, I'll take it). Thanks for considering!
